Me and Amber

Allow me to introduce myself :) My name is Mandy and I am the artist behind Dakotablue Designs. I absolutely ADORE dolls and anything to do with dolls. I've been repainting fashion dolls (such as Tonner and Barbie dolls) for over a year and a half now. But I'd have to say my favorite "hobby" is making unique jewelry for fashion dolls. As of right now, I cater more towards the Tyler Wentworth and Barbie sized dolls. I hope to branch out more in the future. I started creating doll jewelry a few years ago when I realized that most of my dolls didn't have any jewelry....well, nothing realistic anyway. First it was really simple with a beaded necklace and bracelet. But I realized how much fun it was working with the metals and making something really different that maybe others could enjoy.

Ok...heres a little more about me :) I live in Charlotte, North Carolina....I'm a northern transplant as they say here ( I moved from Rochester, New York in 1991 when I was 11 years old). I am married to a very supportive man whom I actually first met just after I moved to Charlotte. His name is John and he was in my 6th grade class :) Well, many grades went by....then our senior year in high school we shared an english class together. We became the best of friends and eventually got married in 2002. We have a beautiful daughter together (also in 2002) named Amber and she is our pride and joy. She has such a good sense of humor for only being a toddler. Both sets of her grandparents live about 2 minutes away.... so she's a little spoiled ;)

I went to college to be an Esthetician (skin care professional)....but have yet to go get my license because I graduated right before I got married....then had my daughter. Soooo...I got a little busy and didn't get my license...hehe. Being artistic runs in the family....luckily I got the gene as well as my brothers (one of which graduated from an animation school at Universal Studios).
